Bunscoil Bhríde Parents Association Newsletter

The Parents Association are looking to rebrand. The rebranding was discussed at the December 2019 and January 2020 meetings. It will be on the agenda for the next meeting and a decision will then be made. We would love to get parents feedback on the rebranding of the PA.

The next PA meeting is due to take place on Tuesday the 11th February 2020 at 7.30pm in the school. All ARE VERY WELCOME TO ATTEND.

The PA would like to thank St Patricks National School Parents Association for hosting the Anti-Cyberbullying / Internet Safety Workshops on the 9th January 2020. There was a fantastic turn out from all of the schools and it was very informative. A link to the slides viewed on the evening will be made available in due course.

If you are not able to attend the Parents Association monthly meetings but would like to be involved or just to get more information please email the Parents Association on

Upcoming Significant Days organised by the Parents Association for the
pupils of Bunscoil Bhríde
JanuaryVolunteers are needed to help make the St Brigid’s cross all throughout January, if you have any time to spare to help out we would really appreciate the help.
The St Brigid’s crosses can be made in the Art Room which is open each day from 9am-1.30pm. Alternatively you can make them at home. We have a collection of reeds in the school if parents would like to take some. Reeds can also be found in the Curragh.

If pupils could bring in baked goods for Grandparents Day that would be greatly appreciated. The calendar will also be on sale on Grandparents Day.
Volunteers are needed in early January to help out with the collection of reeds and the making of the St Brigid’s Crosses. The crosses will be blessed by Father Bill and will be available for sale on Grandparents Day.

St Brigid’s Day
March 20th March 2020
Odd Socks Down Syndrome Awareness Day
An Odd Socks Day event will be ran this year to raise awareness of Down Syndrome

Garda Vetting forms can be downloaded from the school website or are available at the school reception.

If you are able to help out with any of the above events please contact the Parents Association – by email or by contacting the school directly.

A letter was sent home to all parents in early January regarding a request to Kildare County Council for a signalised pedestrian crossing for the girls school and to request a continuation of the path from Sorrentos on main street to the boys school signalised pedestrian crossing.

If you think this is needed could you please sign, address the letter and hand back into the school. All signed submissions received will then be hand delivered to Kildare County Council.

Alternatively you can request these safety improvements or any other safety improvements you believe are needed for Rathangan by emailing Kildare County Council on

The request should be addressed to the Roads Department of Kildare County Council.

Or via post to :

Kildare County Council, Roads Department, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co Kildare, W91 X77F

We have been in contact with the crèche, the boys school and the secondary school to also get behind this request to Kildare County Council. Hopefully by doing this and with a large number of requests we may get some road safety improvements done for the town of Rathangan and for our students.

Please feel free to copy this written submission and have all members of your household sign a separate written request. The letter template is available on the schools website.

The more requests Kildare County Council get for these pedestrian crossings etc the better our chances of getting much needed improvements for Our Town.

Note : any issues / defects / requests for improvements to any part of the County Kildare can also be logged via the fixmystreet website.
