November 2024

1st class have had a great few weeks back since the mid-term break! We have hit the ground running with our writing to socialise genre, we have signed up to write letters & Christmas cards to ‘pen-pals’ as part of Carepack.ie. The girls have been so excited and invested in their letter writing – we have planned, drafted, edited & published our own letters, ready to be posted! We also celebrated Science Week, where we undertook a variety of cool experiments in the classroom such as making walking water & rainbow rain. The girls made predictions beforehand & then documented the results like real scientists! We also had great fun that week at our biodiversity workshop & at the 6th class science fair in the halla.

We had our olympian visit from Noel Hendrick to our school on November 19th. There was huge excitement and anticipation for his arrival. We researched his canoe slalom event, made designs for his canoe & made Ireland posters and flags. We also learned the Haka Gaelach & Amhrán na bhFiann – which the girls loved.

November was also when we celebrated Friendship week, such a wonderful week in our school. It was fabulous to see the girls treating each other with kindness & care throughout the week. Our secret friend reveal on the Friday was a big hit, along with our ‘coffee morning with Ms. Feeney’s class! As always, we have been busy bees with our art, it’s great to have such a creative bunch in room 4. We made & designed our own cardboard houses from cereal boxes & made Winter trees using winter coloured paints.
