On Sunday 10th March Bunscoil Bhríde hosted our first ever Fun Run. It was the most fabulous event, which brought families and all members of the community together. Entrants had the choice of engaging in 10km, 5km or 3km race challenges.
It was wonderful to see so many people out in such vast numbers to support our school and engage collectively in physical activity. The atmosphere and positivity was palpable and we were thrilled to be able to facilitate such a fabulous community celebration. Over 600 people registered to take part in the race. We were overwhelmed by the support we received from sponsors, who donated generously and from transition year students, parents and members of the community who volunteered their time to help in the organisation of the race and the serving of refrehments afterwards. The amount of food (sandwiches, cakes etc) that was so generously donated by parents and members of the community was greatly appreciated and made for a wonderful ending to a lovely morning of walking / running.
I would like to sincerely thank our wonderful Parents’ Association for organising such a successful event and all the members of our exceptionally dedicated staff, without whom such an event would not have been possible. I would also like to thank members of the Rathagan Runners, who played a huge role in helping us to organise and promote the Fun Run. It was fabulous to see so many of our pupils out walking / running and we hope that they continue to engage in this form of physical activity. We truly are an Active School and are proud of our Active School Flag, which signifies this to all.
