September 2023

Junior & Senior infants have had a brilliant first month at school! The girls have all settled in really well & we are enjoying every minute so far! September has been such a busy month & the time has flown! The girls are all getting to know each other well & it’s great to see new friendships forming within the class & beyond!

Our theme this month was all about family, we all talked about our own families & shared stories about our families as a class. We also used the theme of family within Aistear (which has been a huge hit with the junior infants so far!) We have done lots of role-play as a family doing day-to-day activities, building houses for families to live in using blocks & using the dolls house to play with as a family also.

Junior infants have been working on identifying colours & matching pairs of objects in maths. They are really enjoying using concrete objects to sort! We have also done lots of practice on our pinch & flip pencil grip when writing & colouring. Senior infants have been doing lots of revision work on our sounds & maths work & are making great progress! The girls are also really enjoying learning Gaeilge & have picked up lots of words already. We even already have a few songs learned! We have read stories, played games & done a lot of movement breaks to keep our bodies & minds busy!

It’s great to see each of the girls happy & settled after the first month back. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the term entails!
